My Nephew's 1'st Birthday!!

My Nephew's 1'st Birthday!! on Cake Central

So my sister asked for Mike Wazowski for Ben's 1st Birthday...

I think sometimes too much reading can cause unnecessary fear!! This guys was a combination of RKT for the bottom half circle and I used the doll dress pan for the top half. I made chocolate cake and decided to torte and add 2 layers of Chocolate SMBC. I used chocolate ganache as the shell and then covered in fondant.

My struggles with this cake is this... I read somewhere on CC that people who make round (ball cakes) used RKT as the base for support as the cake will cave due to the rounded bottom.....Can Mike be all cake??? Or should I used rkt on the bottom of ball cakes?

The fondant had 2 seams underneath both arms - no matter how many times I pulled and smoothed - I still got these 2 large pleats - so I cut it off with sissors and tried to smooth it in....is there a way to flawlessly cover round ball/egg shapes?

The arms, oh the arms...I stuck two straws and filled with ganache to act as glue for the floral wire into the "shoulder" and made the arms from rkt and fondant, then used wire to connect the two - they needed tylose glue to connect them to the sides of him.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
