For last Christmas, I decided to prepare a motivating math project for my Grade 5 students. Every student had to decorate a cake to give their family for Christmas. They had to put it on a covered cardboard and they had to make a box to put the cake in for transport. They finally had to put a ribbon around the box.

They had to calculate the ingredients needed to make the cake, the SBC and the MMF. Then they had to calculate the box and the cardboard dimensions. They had to design the patterns for the box and the cake. Finally, they had to calculate the ribbon length needed.

A lot of work, but so much fun and proudness!!!!
