chef hat cakes for a twin cooking birthday party. hats are two layers, 4" round on the bottom, 5" round on top. a cake board in between. no carving necessary. bottom layer covered with ganache for support. then the whole thing was coated with a thin layer of buttercream. i made the humps on top with cake crumbs mixed with buttercream. rolled out a circle of fondant, laid over the top, then pinched it all around. cut off excess with x-acto knife, and covered the bottom with a strip of fondant. names were made with PME cutters.
