What size are the layers on this cake?

Looks like a 14, 12 10 and 8 to me.  The icing is just done with  spatula.  When I use burlap, I actually order Faux Burlap from www.papermart.com.  This looks just like regular burlap ribbon, but its made from polyester rather than jute...it doesn't absorb grease....and IT DOES NOT SHED!!!!

Jeff, do you think they are 4" or 6" tall tiers?  Thanks for the info on the faux burlap! 

Not Jeff but I would say each tier is 4" tall.

I want to make this cake but because they will be picking it up due to destination be farther from home.  I will have each layer in boxes for then to take and set up. I want to use fondant to make it easier for them.  How can I get the same design as if I used buttercream and a spatula?
