Prince Cake

Prince Cake on Cake Central

I did this for a one year old's "prince" party. I originally did the crown out of fondant but it fell apart at 2:30 am the day of the party - so this one is made out of cardboard and I attached fake jewels. Next time - I'll know to use gumpaste instead of straight fondant to make sure it dries! But the pillow was a hit - when I started cutting it - everyone was shocked cuz they all thought - even the little kids - that it was a real pillow!

I love this! It is so adorable! And I love how you used the little boy's picture on the crown. Did you laminate the picture, or is it a just a print off from the computer?

Yes, it's just a print off from the computer. It worked great! I think I cut out a piece of fondant the shape of the picture and attached it with royal to that first - but I can't remember. The first crown fell apart and I can't remember if I put the picture right on the cardboard one or not.

Hey Smashcakes! It was so easy! I used a 8 inch contour pan, which gave the nice rounded edges (you don't need one, it just helps) and then carved on the diagonal on both sides to get the slant, covered it in fondant, used the Wilton embosser for the quilting, and used a garlic press for the tassels. It was actually quite easy! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Wow very nice i wish i was able to do something that nice... How exactly did you do the pillow I read that you used a contour pan but that was for that bottom cake, how did you do the pillow? I hope you don't mind me asking on it is done...

Sure! No problem at all! I tried to do it here but there wasn't enough room. I just replied to someone in the Cake Ideas forum about a prince cake where I gave some info (search under prince or crown and it should come up) or send me a private message. I'm happy to help! Thanks so much!
