Ballerina Cake

Ballerina Cake on Cake Central

Pink and white fondant covered 8" and 6" cakes. I traced the ballerina silhouette from an image out of fondant as well, and attached a skewer to the back with royal icing to hold it up. The pink balls on the top tier are dragees I also attached using royal icing. I airbrushed everything with pink and white luster dust to get the pearl effect. . Thanks for looking :)

Your topper is amazing! How did you get it so perfect? Did you add Tylose powder or anything to hold the shape?

Im trying this next week for my daughters birthday and wasn't sure if a skewer is enough to hold it up? Any other tips to keep it from breaking would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks Lebak! I didn't add Tylose powder, it's just fondant "glued" to a skewer w/royal icing. I use fondant since it's what I always have on hand and as long as I plan a few days of dry time they hold up pretty well. I have used gum paste with success as well. After I roll out the fondant I let it dry about 1/2 an hour so it won't be sticky when I trace and cut out the image (it cuts way cleaner). And I use an exacto blade. Good luck! :)

An exacto blade is smart, especially for the detail on the hands. And the royal icing as glue is also a great idea! I will try both, thanks!
