Pam's 50Th Birthday ~ The Long Awaited Cowboy Hat . . .

Pam's 50Th Birthday ~ The Long Awaited Cowboy Hat . . . on Cake Central

Well, here it is. I will be putting together the "how to" soon. I was disappointed but it turned out ok. Vanilla cake with buttercream and fondant and Kincaellan's jewels. Belt buckle is gumpaste painted with luster dust and alcohol. Cake is for a 50th surprise birthday party for a co-worker that wanted a pink cowboy hat with rhinestones. Note to self ~ make sure you know where all of your required tools are before beginning a project!

Thanks everyone! After receiving so many requests for instructions from my other cowboy hat cake I knew I would be making another one some day and documenting it. Here it is! I will be putting it all together in the next week. Cookie4 - the "rhinestones" are the jewels that Kincaellan (from CC) sells. There is a thread on CC about these.

Great looking cake, I usually use the jewels coated in lustre dust but it's nice to see them used clear and still sparkling!

The surprise party was last night. Everyone loved the cake including the other customers at the restaurant. People kept coming to the door (of the private room where we were) and just staring at the cake. They couldn't believe it was a cake. It tasted great too! Everyone came back for another peak after we cut it - I guess to verify that it really was cake!

Why would you be disappointed? This is so neat! I love the belt buckle with her age on it... nice touch!

Wow - I just love the hat cake. I live in Texas and sure could make/sell these all day long. What are the rhinstones made of? Please do post your instructions in detail - I'm sure many of us would like to make this. Thanks again for sharing your photos.

Yee-ha !! What a great cake! I haven't tried a hat cake yet, but like Cookie4, living in Texas I need to learn. :)
