Bhm Open Book With Antique Table Top

Bhm Open Book With Antique Table Top on Cake Central

This was my first try at an open book. I learned so much in doing this one (what not to do also)! I did this one last month for a black history month celebration. The bottom cake is 22"x 15" made to sort of resemble an antique table top or desk top. The book was carved from a 1/2 sheet.

Wow, you did an awesome job on your cake. I didn't realize the table was actually a cake until I read it. Great job!

I like this better than the open book pans. I have an open book pan and the sides get done so fast that they are sometimes crispy. Excellect presentation. This is a great idea. Did you use an airbrush on the table?

Thank you, yes it is all buttercream. The images on the pages are edible images, and the table was airbrushed. I would definitely curve the pages more when carving the next time I do one of these.
