Asian Bithday Cake Side View

Asian Bithday Cake Side View on Cake Central

This is a side of view of a Birthday cake I made for a co-workers daughter that is into Asian art. I stamped the images on paper and colored them in and had it tranfered to the edible paper. My only qeusetion is how do you get the edges of the paper not to show as much as they do here.

I use an edible ink printer all the time. The best advise I can give you is to print your picture just minutes before you frost your cake then apply the image before the frosting sets. The sugar blends beautifully with the frosting. You should make sure your frosting is of thin to medium consistency. Any firmer and the image will not meld into the cake.

Delightful idea. I might do the sides in long strips the same height as the cake sides. You'd have a couple of seams, but that would be a lot less noticeable. I can always see the edges of the image - no matter how well it blends with the icing. But, I'm just sorta that way. Other people might not be so nitpicky. Or...I'm about to do a cake with a collection of antique flower images on the sides. I'm going to surround each separate image with a frame piped in royal icing.
