I made 40 of these for my nieces carnival birthday party. They are cupcakes with mini marshmellows on top. I slid the cupcakes into a liner that I colored red and printed 'popcorn' stickers on my computer. Thanks to fellow CCers for inspiration and ideas.
OMG these are way too cool. i love these. what kind of liners did you use??? i have been trying to find a liner that you could decorate to fit any design, but i absolutely love these popcorn cupcakes!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cut the marshmallows in a criss cross pattern and then just smushed the bottom part that I didn't cut (hope that is clear). I was planning on 'painting' on some yellow for the butter and then sprinking some large sugar for salt, but ran out of time! The liners I used were the Wilton candy cups (bought them at Michael's). They were the perfect size for the cupcakes (which I left in thier liners), and just used a red marker to color the stripes. Thanks for the comments! Let me know if you have m...
Great job. I made these a few years ago. To make the popcorn I cut yellow and white marshmallows in half and then stuck one of each color together to make it look like popcorn. To make pink popcorn you could use pink marshmallows together with white.
Hey ITS AWESOME! what kind of liner did you use please tell me I want to try that. Thanks.and also is it food color paint or what did you use as red adn white on liner?
I baked the cupcakes in a regular cupcake liner. I left the cupcakes in the original liner and slipped it into a Wilton candy cup which I bought at Michaels. I then took a thick red Sharpie and colored in the red stripes. I printed the Popcorn sign onto sticker paper and cut it out. It took a long time but it was worth it. Good luck. PM me if you need more information.
I have 2 questions - Are the cupcakes the standard size or are they jumbo? And did you smush the marshmallows on top of the cupcake when it was still warm?
jdavis22 - the cupcakes are normal sized. I let the cupcakes cool, iced them a little bit with white icing and then stuck the 'popcorn' into the icing. HTH.
ombaker - there is a cupcake liner inside the candy cup. Both non-edible. The kids just pealed the liners away from the cupcake to eat. Thanks for your comment!
