Baby Shower on Cake Central

This was an experiment with chocolate candy clay. Okay, I'll never use candy clay again to cover a cake...I just wanted to give it a try. Now I'm over it!

Beautiful cake. Did you have a hard time with the candy clay and did you make your own or buy it premade?

I made the candy clay myself...yes, it was a pain in the hooha! It cooled way too quickly and began to crack on every corner. I stuck it in the oven (yes, the whole cake!!) to get the clay to warm up so I could somewhat fix the corners. What I couldn't fix, the polka dots hid!!

Oh, and the customer made the bow on top. She gave me a swatch of the ribbon to match the aqua color...when laid directly on the aqua fondant, it is an exact match but it doesn't look so in this picture.

I love this cake!! The bright colors look so great against the chocolate background. Good job!!
