Cutie Bug on Cake Central

Based on the party invitation. Topper is hand-painted on gumpaste. Bottom layer chocolate, top layer WASC, iced in buttercream and covered with fondant and fondant decorations. For a 5-year-old girl's b'day party.

The shiny fondant was a "weather problem" ;-) I finished the cake the night before it was due, and went to bed with it looking normal. A Pacific front came through with rain and super-high humidity levels while we slept. When I got up the next morning, the MMF was all glossed over like this.

Ok, now if I could find a way to mimic your "weather problem"!! I love that glossy look! Adorable cake.

Thanks, y'all. Like I said, it was just a happy accident. HOWEVER ... I think if you put a fondant covered cake in the fridge overnight, then take it out right before it's due, it will also develop that glossy sheen from the humidity levels in the fridge. You just can't touch it after you take it out -- your fingerprints will be all over it.
