Ocrids

Ocrids on Cake Central

The weekend I made this cake ... I had two wedding cakes. I was happily surprised at how well everything went.

Those are real Orcids. She got them at Costco. I tell the brides to make absouletly sure that it's safe to use the flowers on the cake. The brides always come back saying that as long as you don't eat the flowers it's okay. There is a list of poisonous flowers online.

Very pretty!! So you poked the flowers right into the cake? I'd be concerned about sap seeping into the cake whether it was harmful or not. I use the plastic vials for flowers to be inserted directly into a cake. I also wouldn't leave it up to the customer to research the flowers to be used.

I'm w/ carolann on this one...I have only done one wedding cake and fortunately did not include and flowers at all, but I don't think I would poke the flowers right into the cake at all, I would use those vials too! I would do the researching myself just to be safe, b/c I wouldn't want a lawsuit on me!! BTW - very nicely done though!
