Multi Coloured Flowers &stripes

Multi Coloured Flowers &stripes on Cake Central

Layered cake finished in fondant stripes and icing flowers. There were pink stipes but they faded overnight. Next time I'm using a different type of colouring.

The flowers are gumpaste and sorry only got one photo and this is it. My pasta machine is just standard but what I did was ice the cake first with fondant so had a good surface to work with then put the rolled coloured fondant on . I put two pieces on, so there is actually a join through the middle of each tier but you don't notice it. Does this make sense?

Wow! That's beautiful! I have admired cakes with fondant stripes since first seeing them. Yours are perfect, any tips you're willing to share?

For the stripes you roll out tubes of icing then lay them side by side pushing them together a little without distorting the tubes then put them through a pasta roller machine then wrap around cake.

Your cake is awesome! Your roses are perfect!! Great job!! How wide is your pasta machine? The middle layer looks a lot taller than the width of any pasta roller I#ve been able to find--Any tips-- or does it just look wider than it really is? I really, really like this cake! The 'faded' pink adds a nice touch :D

that's amazing! I always thought these were done with chocolate collars or something. Thanks for the lesson, yours is gorgeous!!

I 'm sure when you saw that the stripes had faded, you were a little upset. I have nightmares about my cakes doing crazy things in the middle of the night. But I think you're right the faded stripes add character and dementions to the cake. Great job. I love it.
