Watering Can With Flowers

This small oval cake was a triple citrus (orange, lemon, lime--one layer of each) with an almond paste type filling, orange buttercream and covered in fondant. My first try at covering it with black fondant was a complete disaster, so I peeled it off and covered it with a white fondant that I painted black with Americolor black mixed with vodka. The flowers and lady bugs are all gumpaste and the rust accents are CK terracotta petal dust. I'm kind of glad that the black fondant didn't work out, cuz the paint over white actually gave me exactly the battered and beaten metal look I was going for. The 88 years young recipient refused to believe it was a cake until they cut into it and served her a piece.
