"sew In Love"- 1940's Wedding Dress Cake

My submission to the 2012 Connecticut Cake Competition. Inspired by a 1940's wedding dress dedicated to my grandmother, who did not have a wedding dress when she married my grandfather in 1944 (she could only afford a suit). The cake took 57 hours of which 24 hours were spent on the flowers. The cake is real (white/yellow with non-dairy buttercream) and was donated to a soup kitchen after the event! The sewing box is also made of real cake (with a wooden skeleton and paneled with gumpaste) and could open and close. Thanks for looking!
