This cake was created for a sugar art competition in the Professional Tiered Cakes category. The design was inspired by the dresses of Irene Adler, the character from the popular Sherlock Holmes movies as well as an over the top, fantastically colored pink and black dress. The cake features various ruffles, black sugar lace, billowing and bows seen on the fabric of the dress as well as hand-painted details, sugar beaded necklaces, and fondant ruffled fabric flowers. The cake is topped with a striped hat with a hand molded brim adorned with more ribbons, bows, and fabric ruffled flowers. This cake won First Place and Best in Division for the Professional Cakes at the 2012 CO ICES Sweet Times in the Rockies Sugar Art show!
