I used all butter, buttercream by chilling in between frostings and smoothings. The final smoothing was done with VIVA and a fondant smoother. I cannot seem to get the crisco frosting as smooth and besides, this tastes MUCH better!

This is awesome! Your clown heads look different than the standard Wilton ones. I like them better. Where did you get them! Great job!
