Corn On The Cob

Corn On The Cob on Cake Central

I made this cake out of chocolate and butter yellow cake. The base is chocolate and the corn is the butter yellow (yellow for corn). I crumb coated everything in buttercream. The husk is made out of thinly rolled fondant colored green with wilton leaf green. I then used my paint brush and turned it over to make the scratched. I then piped the corn kernels using wilton tip 5. It is hard to see, but the corn is two different colors to represent sweet corn. Then, I covered the base with stars (16) with buttercream with leaf green and a little bit of forest green. To make the fondant shine so much, I used a steamer (the kind you use to steam clothing) and swiped over the fondant part of the cake. This cake was very fun to make on only took a couple of hours.
