You knew it was coming, it's a Cars summer. Lightning and Mater are from the new Williams Sonoma pan of all the Cars 2 characters, they are fondant covered. The base layer is just one 3 inch layer covered in fondant (w/ extra buttercream in between). The road and the road sign (his name is Miles and it's his 1st birthday) are painted with food coloring. All decorations are fondant. The smash cake is buttercream decorated (except for the additional Lightning McQueen).
