Blue Squares With Stars

Blue Squares With Stars on Cake Central

I had a hard time making this cake because I just don't like this color and then having to hand pipe a bazillion little stars on it. Not to mention the bride said "I'd lots of little stars, think no bigger than your thumbnail" Arrrrgh!!!! Needlesss to say my hand had cramps. I did talk you out of putting dark red roses all over it as well. I suggested it might be getting a little too busy. Oh well, it came together better than the cakes looked individually.

You did a great job...your corners are sharp and icing is smooth as it should be. If I may suggest, the cake board should atleast be 3" bigger than the base cake, and a square cake may look nicer on a square board too..

smbanda, I'm not exactly sure what this type of stacking is called exactly. I think I've heard it called "staircase" but I can't remember where I heard that. I did put a border in the back just to tie it all together and so you couldn't see the seams. I think that the tiers were 8", 10", and 14" and were close to 4" tall for each layer. I found out later that the bride found these letters on "the Knot" website.

I like this very much! Great job! I would also like to know what the letters are made from I like 'em!

The letters were provided by the bride, she told me she found them on the internet but I don't know were. The were made of some light weight metal, but they are at least 2 inches wide and just barely fit between the layers.

Beautiful!. I have two questions. Is this what is meant by stacked "offset"? On the back do you have a border or is there no room for a border? What size are your tiers? Thanks!
