This is an amalgamation of cakes I've seen...mostly based on a design by Elisa Strauss...but many thanks to StellaStarChild for her instructions on making the baby shoes. Mine were far from as perfect as hers are, but okay for a first effort. The super exciting part is that I made them ahead and froze them (unstacked) double wrapped in plastic wrap. They're covered in fondant with modeling chocolate for the decoration. I moved them from the freezer to the fridge the night before the shower, and from the fridge to room temp a few hours before. Once they came to room temp, unwrapped and stacked. Perfect!
