I used a single layer 12x18"plus a 10" square single layer, stacked with choc bc and raspberry preserves, then carved into shape. Chocolate ganache over all held it together, then fondant. I shined the whole cake with a spray of corn syrup mixed with vodka which worked great (thanks to whoever posted that tip).
