I put the dots on with royal icing. I also used Satin Ice fondant, the customer and her wedding guests liked the flavor and didn't peel it off. FYI :D

I love this cake. well done. Just one question, you made the dots with royal icing, did you make them on parchment paper, let them dry and then attached them to the cake with more royal icing?? Did you find them hard to handle? was it a very fiddly job??

It looks amazing!! You should feel so good about it. I was wondering where you learned hwo and what you used to make those roses with? I would like to make a cake just like this in the future and would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Thank you! Yes it is a Wilton design titled Across the threshold. It seems the trick to the roses is to roll the fondant, that has some gumtex added to it, very thin and then thin it even more with the ball tool. It was very nerve racking but exciting as well.

I just LOVE this cake! If you have time could you please explain how you made the fondant with gumtex added to it? Ex. did you make mmf and then add gumtex to it while moldable? I love the look! Also are the dots in royal icing? thank you

Thank you for your kind words. Since the flowers were not going to be eaten I just used the Wilton premade stuff and added about 1teaspoon of gumtex to about 8oz. fondant. You just knead it into it like dough. Then roll it very thin on sugar dusted surface cut it with a five petal cutter. You thin the edges and add three layers of petals. This is very difficult to write about you could take a wilton course three or find one of the course three booklets. It is all written out and has pictures.

Thank you! Best wishes to you if you give this cake a try. Have fun!!!!Oh sorry I forgot to answer the dot question, yes they are royal icing thined and done ahead of time to dry. :D
