Bat Mitzvah Cake

I often talk about one cake or another being my favorite, or the most work to date, but this cake takes the top of both of those categories. My 13 years old customer knew she wanted something to represent the fall season's colors. Something earthy and organic with a classic beauty. This is NOT the request you usually get from a 13 year old. She gave me some ideas, we looked at some photos, but in the end I had full creative freedom. And here is the result. Over 100 had made sugar flowers. I can't tell you how many hours went into this design, but some of the roses alone have 18 petals, each hand made and painted. Thanks to my mom for her help with the fondant leaves. Thanks to my customer for giving me their trust to have full creative freedom for such an important event in their lives. I hope that you love the cake as much as I do. Mazel Tov!

Beautiful sugar work on the flowers, the hand painted details are just stunning! Also there is impressive movement with this cake from the swag that draws your eye down and around to the subtle ombre effect on the layers drawing your eye back upward from dark to light. Well done!
