Father Christmas
Yes, he's all buttercream! Father Christmas in six layers of pound cake kneels on a pathway of black beans in royal icing "snow" to decorate a cupcake-and-ice cream cone Christmas tree. On his back, there is a pompom on his hat and embroidery on the back of his coat. 2005 Holiday Cake Contest Winner
Absolutely Fabulous!!! I love the dark colors you achieved. Did the coloring affect the taste of the buttercream? This is a true work of art.
Thanks for everyones' kind comments! Karenelli, I didn't eat the cake, so I can't attest to the taste issue, but I vaguely remember putting some choc icing in the red to make the brick color.
Heartwarming festive cake. I love the whole design. The best cakes are when we think outside the box! You did a great job!
Thanks, ChickieD! I found a Father Christmas wood carving book for a dollar at a discount bookstore, and thought it would be a good cake pattern book.
I loved this, you did a superb job. Congratulations!
I can only wish that I will be this good one day... Great Job!!!
Great job with the buttercream, I really like it better than fondant. People do beautiful things with fondant but it is not very tasty. You are truly talented.
WOW! what else is thre to say. One day I hope to get to this level
