this is (was) my mom's birthday cake. she loves cinderella and i wanted to make her a pillow cake with a glass slipper. the cake was doomed from the begining. ran out of vanilla and heavy cream, the bottom layer cracked, tried to 'glue' it together. (should have just baked a new one-its impossible to carve a cracked cake!!) its been so humid here that my fondant (satin ice) was just not cooperating at all! after applying 3 times i just gave up and left it like it is. she loves pink hearts so i put them around the cake board.....bad choice, looked horrible. so i left the cake alone not happy at all with this cake, and went to bed. when i woke up....the fondant slid off where the cake had cracked and the tassles fell off...the only thing left was the glass slipper. now i have no cake for mom, but so happy i have a place to post my cake disaster. and to make it worse this was my first cake since having shoulder surgery-i was so excited to get back into caking, UGH just so frustrating................................
