This is absolutely beautiful. I am doing a shower cake for a friend in a month. Would you mind if I used this as my inspiration? It is for a girl, though. Also, what do you mean by 50/50 bow? And did you make the ducky?

Thank you for the nice compliments! showersfamily4 - of course you may use this! That's why I posted it. 50/50 refers to a mixture of half fondant, half gumpaste. I made the ducky in a chocolate mold.

Lindsaycakes - I spend a lot of time getting the balls nice and round. The fondant has to be soft otherwise creases will occur. Use Crisco instead of powdered sugar on the work surface.

Thank you, darlene. I was pretty proud of the corners on this cake. I start by baking in Magic Line pans which give nice sharp corners. Feel free to PM me if you want more info on the technique I use.

Hi - I have copied your cake once before and now have been asked to do it again - the first time I did the bow it didn't come out looking right - the loops were too high - how did you do yours? Fabulous by the way!

divaricks - I cut my bow loops relatively long, then looped them over a thin dowel to dry. I think the dowel was about 3/8".

Wonderful corners. how do you do that. Also how did you paint the ducky. I actually feel like eating it and I just had breakfast.
