uhm....put Mommy on the phone...I want to thank her.  So come Jan. I am downloading pictures of volcanos to come up with a design that looks good, folks volcanos are just plain ugly, no gettin around it! LOL So made the cake: 2-8" rounds & a Doll skirt cake for top. Frosted it & then focused on the beach, trees & village for cuteness. :D Trees are pretzel sticks & royal icing. Huts are pretzel sticks glued to paper & icing leaves. The Kids loved the dry ice smoke & egg white lava.

Zack loved it. They kept having Cherie put more dry ice in to have it keep smoking. But the surprise biggest hit of the cake were the little pretzel huts. For some reason the kids loved those and took them off the cake and played with them. I unfortunately couldn't be there, I made the cake on Thursday night put it in the fridge, and then flew to Long Island. They picked it up for the Sat. party.

Wow...this is sooo nice. I"ve been planning a luao party with my friends for some time, and I suggested to make a volcano cake. I've done my research and all I'm waiting for is the day for the party! How did you go about finding the dry ice? And how did the egg white lava work out?? Just worried about the taste really when I read the suggestions to use colored egg whites. Thanks for posting such cool cake.

I am in California, SF Pennisula, not sure where you are. But I basically did a yellowpages.com search for dry ice. And it came up with a Pennisula Ice Company. The egg whites...Well that was a problem. I didn't want a big hole at the top of the cake big enough for a juice glass...so I tried something else which did not work. So i recommend you go to a science supply place and get a tempered glass test tube. But overall it shouldn't be a taste problem, you don't use that much.

Now that is the "ART" of cake decorating!!! Fantastic  Cant wait until my kids get older to try that one out. keep up the fantastic work
