For this cake I used a Wilton sphere shaped pan to bake the baseball. For the homeplate, I baked a rectangular cake and then carved it into the shape of the base. I cut about an inch or so off the bottom of the "baseball" so that it would sit flat on top of the base (also added a dowel rod for support). I iced the base white and then sprinkled graham crackers crumbs on it to make it look "dirty."
