Autumn Pumpkin Scene

Autumn Pumpkin Scene on Cake Central

Covered in buttercream icing. The background is done with an airbrush. Everything else was painted with a paintbrush. I had a couple of accidents. I dropped something on the end of the fence and for some reason I couldn't keep my fingers away form the edge of the cake. This was just practice so I didn't worry about it being perfect. I didn't even put a border around it.

Very artistic!! but how do you paint on BC using a brush. Do you use a special technique? I thought that the BC would stick to the brush in lumps. I guess we would appreciate your advise.

I don't really have a special technique. I only used two brushes to do this scene. I used the buttercream icing for frozen transfers recipe from here. It is my favorite. I put the different colors of buttercream in small cups and wipe excess on the brush on the sides of the cup. When I change colors, I just wipe the brush with a paper towel.

As I've said before Talmas, this is your trademark!. This is what sets you apart from other artists. I strongly believe that if you were to market this kind of cake you would be VERY successful...I mean, RBI is known for his flowers, Colette for her Whimsy cakes, Sylvia for her buttercream work, and Talmas for her Sweet Oil Painting!

Yeah wow - just wow - I think you could really make a name for yourself as a cake portrait artist - you have an amazing talent. And no art classes? Must be a God-given gift!

This is so different than anything I've ever seen, I really love it. I think it's one of the most creative I've seen on this site yet. Great job.
