This cake was a pain from the beginning. My husband did most of the work (since this cake and the Slipknot cake were both due the week I had tons of homework and no days off from work). I just baked and frosted and helped cover the books. He painted the flower on fondant and made the chessboard out of fondant. The cake made the car ride up until about less than a block away from its destination when the top book slid off and crushed the other one. It was horrible. I was at home when he called so in 4 hours I whipped up a new "book" and drove it over. It held for less than an hour before it came crashing down again. The dowel down the center didnt help any LoL It was a disaster! Thankfully it was for my husbands employee and she wasnt upset. They just cut the cake in the kitchen and took the pieces out to the party area. Chocolate fudge cake, whipped chocolate ganache filling, chocolate buttercream and everything else fondant.
