I made this for my son's birthday, inspired by a design from CakeMommy3's photos. The Elmo was originally all fondant, covered with buttercream to make him look furry (which took FOREVER, btw). But the arms broke to pieces, so I had to scramble to make new ones out of RKT. I'd probably just do the whole figure from RKT if I had to do it again. The cake is frosted with buttercream, and the stars, sign, and "exploded" pieces are fondant. I was pretty happy with it overall, but I wish I could have captured that huge excited Elmo grin better.
