60th Birthday cake for "Papa". 100% edible. Hatbox is about 70% gumpaste 30% fondant (to allow for working time). Hat is cake with additional cake underneath to make up needed servings. Hat box lifts up over cake for cutting and serving. His daughter just waned a life sized Fedora hat cake because her dad wears them all the time. I, of course, figured it should come in a hat box like a real hat, right? Right!

I bought the leopard hat from Target to use as a model (it's being returned today...not my style. ha!). Was going to cover the top rim of the box with a black strip of fondant to match the bottom and cover the tops of the stripes but after adding the stripes the fit was too tight to add it. Choc cake w/ coffee buttercream (he loves choc and coffee), MMF.
