Dress Form Cake

Dress Form Cake on Cake Central

I made this cake 2 years ago for my husband's cousin's high school graduation party. She is planning on going into fashion and chose this kind of cake and the colors. The cake design was taken from a cake I found in the Cake Central gallery; I'm sorry I don't remember who made the original (it was very lovely!)

The dress was marshmallow fondant. I used the Wilton doll pick, removed the head and arms, and covered it in black fondant. I molded the skirt over a Tupperware heating core, then stuck the doll pick in. When everything was dry, we were able to remove the heating core and the dress stood on its own. Our cousin painted on the trim with black food coloring.

As you can see, my buttercream skills are quite poor, but I am working on it. I could not have even gotten this far without all the help and inspiration from so many of the wonderful members on this website! I'm going to attempt to make another dress next week for a bridal shower cake.
