Box Of Shells
I made this cake for my youngest sister who was in town visiting from Florida. It is an 8" double layer chocolate box cake with 8" single layer "lid". The lid has her first initial "E" on the top. The shells are made with sugar and water packed in a mold. The pearls were supposed to be fondant, but my daughter needed my attention before I finished making them and they dried on me. So I used my Grandmother's pearls. I know if she were still with us she would have loved the addition.
Great job! Looks yummy too!
UNIQUE! Very Interesting! Good Job!
Lovely!
I LOVE THIS!!!
Looks beautiful. I love the detail on the top. Really great!
Beautiful cake!!
What a wondeful idea. How did you prop up the lid?
I just used 3 dowels (sharpened) of different heights. Since it was just for "us" I just set it on top of the dowels. Had it been for someone else, I probably would have poked little holes in the bottom of the cake board with the lid and inserted the tip of the dowels in the holes.
what a wonderful idea! beautiful cake
Such detail on this cake very beautiful and you can never go wrong with choc
