Uncle Sam on Cake Central

All buttercream. I'm not very good at piping yet, and I'm afraid to decorate directly onto the cake for fear of messing it up, so my method is to trace a cookie cutter on wax paper, then fill in w/different colors, etc., and pop into the freezer. After it's frozen, I run a thin spatula between the design and the wax paper to release it, then pop it onto the cake. Where there's a will, there's a way. Cakes used to intimidate me, but the more I do them, the more comfortable I feel.
