I made this as a surprise for my husband on Father's Day. I baked and decorated it (including making the chocolates and the fondant pieces) in 5 hours. Three layer 9 x 6 inch cake - the chest was 2 1/2 layers and the lid was a 1/2 layer. Chocolate cake covered with Chocolate Icing with wood grain texture that I did using a (dedicated) paint brush. Filled with chocolate gold coins and Ring Pop candy gems. It sits on brown sugar sand surrounded by moulded chocolate sea shells accented with luster dust. Fondant treasure map painted with gel colors.
