I was asked to do a birthday cake that would be used to celebrate a number of birthdays on Memorial Day. The only request was that it be decorated in red, white, and blue. The bottom layer is a 12" white cake, the top is a 9" chocolate cake. I used a template to hand cut the candle cookies and baked them on lollipop sticks. The stars were made with a Wilton cookie cutter. The icing for the cookies is basically Toba's Glace that has had some bright white food color added to it to prevent the icing from getting cloudy and spotty. I've really been enjoying combining cookies with cake!
