La Petite Fleur

La Petite Fleur on Cake Central

This was my cake for OSSAS 2005. All the pink draping on the cake is Fondant. The Fabric starts under all four tiers. So at the base of my cake. I was very happy that the fabric matched in the day but at night you could see a variation! The flower took me ten hours to comeplete.

Wow, it's amazing!!! The flower is gorgeous!! I love how the the fondant draping blends right into the fabric at the base.

I had to look twice to see where the fondant ended and fabric began! Beautiful! That flower is amazing, how did you do it?

The flower is extruded through a clay gun--The ten hours. Each strand of fondant is layed one on top of a another to get the look of embroidery. The leaves are extruded fondant too!

Gorgeous! I thought the draping was one huge piece of fondant. You did excellent matching the colors. That rose is amazing.

OMG!! That is just beautiful..I can't imagine how your hand felt after using a clay extruder for that many hours!!!! Have your hands recovered yet???

I love this cake, and it was so funny. The day after I saw your cake on this site, the Food Network aired the same competition on the tv. So the whole time I kept yelling out to my husband "See, that one right there!!" Oh, and I think you did a great job matching your fondant to the fabric. Looks good, until I read your whole caption, I assumed it was all fondant!!

I didn't realize this was you!! I saw your cake on TV and loved it! I'm happy I get to tell you how beautiful it is! I thought you should have won!

Thanks for the kind words! I am worlds away from winning! The people that compete have years on me! Thanks so much!

I am honestly amazed by this! Your cake is incredible. I would love for you to explain to me the clay gun technique if you ever have the chance. I'm sure it might take a lot of explanation in my case :) But your colors of fabric match so well with your fondant. I love it!

I am actually doing a photo tutorial for Amercan Cakde decorating Magazine. It is hard to explain and this technique is very time consuming. PM me and I will forward what I wrote for others.

I have only joined this site in the last ten minutes and this is cake has made me do a double take! I have had to look VERY closely to see where the fabric ends and the fondant begins. WOW!

The cake is just beautiful. I remember seeing this one in the competition I watched on Food Network. I watch them every chance I get. I was amazed when I saw this the first time, and I'm still amazed when I found it here just now.

It's just incredible! I really have no other word to describe it! Has your tutorial been published yet? I'd love to see whatever instructions you may have written out. :)
