I made this for a guy who has a personal vendetta against armadillos. He does not like them in his yard. When I brought it to the house, his wife told a neighbor, "look at what Kathy made for my husband's birthday" and the neighbor said, "Oh, you do ceramic work?" Okay, you all know we've seen a lot better looking armadillos here on CC but that comment sure made my day. Armadillo is carved cake covered in buttercream. I made buttercream dots and kind of smoothed them down some to make the front and used a cookie cutter to make the armor indentations on the bands. Not fancy but she wanted all buttercream. Oh, the ears are gumpaste.
