My Attempt To Build The Ultimate Power In The Universe

My Attempt To Build The Ultimate Power In The Universe on Cake Central

My nephew wanted a death star cake - so there you go. The bottom cake was covered with a blue marshmellow fondant which I achieved beautiful marble look by adding streaks of color and not kneeding it so much (however, the death star covers the most interesting galactic spiral). The ball cake on top was touch and go - the weight started to take it out of round, and it would have sunk down into the bottom cake, had I not put a support column under it (probably a good idea to just buttercreme the ball next time and airbrush the detail on it). The vodka/corn syrup glaze was good, but you can overdo it. To all of the other examples out there on the web - thanks for the creative help! To all of you who make fondant cakes, and didn't really admit how much work goes into them - I hate you....I think I'll go back to airbrushing. But, it was a challenging adventure. And yes, the marshmellow fondant tastes much better than the store bought. Have a great day!
