Princess Dora
Dora and boots are made from Gumpaste. The cake is covered in buttercream and I painted it on so I could give it texture. The spires are made of buttercream. The pink block things, whatever they are called, are half mmf and gumpaste. I had extra yellow so the door is gumpaste. The board is covered in green mmf.
Ack! Can't let my dd see the Dora. It's perfect!
Wow! Great job!
Totally speechless!!! This is so precious.
I'm with bubblezmom!! Must hide this quickly! Really awesome job!
very cute
so adorable
now that is just too cute!
This is awesome! Do you use special tools when you are making figures out of gumpaste? Have you done figures with MMF and if so does it come out looking this good? Great job!
Adorable
I use a confectioners tool set, toothpick, tweezers, exacto knife, and small scissors. I use the scissors the most. This was my first time using Nicholas Lodge's recipe for gumpaste to model. It was ok since it was last minute and I didn't have time to let it dry.. You have to work really fast because it dries so quickly. I think the best recipe is half gumpaste and fondant. Fondant by itself doesn't work as well for me.
beautiful!!!!
great job
Awesome job! This is so darling.
Great jobTalmas!!
WOW ! It looks great!
Dora and boots looks great!! Excellent job :-)
i love this cake. beautiful!
how did you stick the figures together? they are so perfect...you should see the state of my dora!! it came out terrible
I just used water lightly brushed on to stick pieces together. To keep them in place, use some plastic wrap squashed up to where you need it. I used uncooked spaghetti for Boots legs and had it sticking out the red boots so I had something to stick in the cake. I can't remember for sure but I probably used some uncooked spaghetti to attach the heads to the bodies.
GOOD GRAVY!!! I almost didn't believe that these were gumpaste- you are AMAZING! Thanks for your inspiration!
This is a lot of work and what a wonderful job you did! Bravo!
the figurines are so incredible! great job--
