Expectant Mommy

Expectant Mommy on Cake Central

I wanted to practice for a cake order I have coming up for a baby shower and I purchased and used Aine2's wonderful tutorial and just tweaked her to be a pregnant momma...1st try at a human figure and I think she turned out pretty cute. (she's all gum paste or gum paste/fondant) Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

"Pretty cute"? Are you joking!! I had to click and look because I thought this was a 'genuine' Lorraine original! You did a phenomenal job!! Outstanding to say the least!

She is amazing!!! For your cake I would move her hand down towards the bottom of her belly, of to the side a bit (this is a photographic tool to make the stomach stand out alot) I hope I can be that good someday!

Absolutely fabulous job...you have a real gift if this was your first try!! great job!! Looking forward to seeing more pics of yours!

Wow, that's fantastic! I can't believe it's your first time? I made a pregnant lady last year myself, I love all the details on yours... the puffy sleeves of her dress, adorable cleavage (ha ha), the toes, hand on the belly.. I'm definately saving this. I may have another pregnant figure to make next month and I'll be using yours for inspiration (if that's ok with you).

Words can't describe!! Absolutely fabulous! Is the torso one piece or two or 3. Just trying to figure out how you got the belly shape and the boob shape with cleavage. Best model Iv'e ever seen on cc. First eh? I am dying to try one. Iv'e been nervous to try.

Oh thanks you guys...I really appreciate all the sweet comments (and good point about moving her hand...makes sense to show more belly!) I made the torso in one piece, but to get her belly to be in front of her pants I cut a notch out (kinda in an L shape) so her body sits on top of the jeans, but the belly hangs out over them. The head and arms are extra and the shirt is actually five pieces (top and bottom of front, back and then 2 sleeves)

I was super frustrated with her hair (I made it with a garlic press, but I really think I need of one those sugar shapers b/c it was just too big around in my opinion :-t , and I think she has man hands :? not sure how to make them more delicate...but I'm learning...any ideas? & where do you get one of those shaper things?

WOW you are really talented!!! My first human was super ugly! LOL Even purchasing Aine2's tutorials I can never get them looking this nice! Awesome job!

Oh wow!!! she's gorgeous.. haha.. i also bought aine's tutorial but was too afraid to try it out.. you just gave me the courage to try out mine! I'd be happy if i could get my attempt to look half as nice as yours :)

I got a lot of cleavage myself, esp. when I was pregnant and nursing, so I wanted to make a mommy more like our actually bodies  I've even thought about making a nursing momma...anyone ever do that? and how? w/o being too revealing?

The only feedback from me is, "Great job!!" And you especially did a great job with the face and facial features. Great work!

I LOVE this!!!! I think the hair and hands are just perfect. It adds to the cartoonish quality, which is in keeping with the character, IMO. I love the detail of the ruffle sleeves and the stitching on the jeans. SO CUTE!!!
