Snare Drum
wow! I really had a hard time with this one! I had everything planned out accordingly and when I got to doing the outside with my already dried hardware...I hadn't done the fondant right on the top and the bottom...and the cake just wasn't high enough. So, I had to make due with what I had with the hardware and make bigger pieces of fondant for the top and bottom. Everything you see here is fondant! This is my first ALL fondant cake! Critique subgroup member: Well then for your first fondant cake this is well done. So I am not going to poke at the obvious since you did have a hard time, but do want you to look at something I bet you haven't before and that is your handwriting. I'm not fondant of handwriting on cake in the US because our handwriting is horrible. I use a pice of glass prepipe the message from computer print out and let dry, stamp the cake then pipe again. Putting a partial tute on our thread.
Critique subgroup member: congrats on such a great first fondant cake! You already pointed out the obvious points that need to be improved upon, but give yourself some credit- this is a good sign that you're going to be fabulous with fondant! Your sticks look awesome with the flames on the end and your silver is nice and rich. :)
OMG! you guys! I lied! this is not my first ALL fondant cake! I am so sad from today :cry: I am making myself crazy! Sorry :opps:

critique subgroup member: i think it's great! my husband would die for a cake like this! i have a hard time with my writing too. i am better at writing on a cake board. don't beat yourself up over it, i'll bet the birthday boy loved it and that's what matters! well done!
critique subgroup member: I really like your cake! THe colors are great - the sticks are great. The cake LOOKS very much like a drum. I don't think you have anything to apologize for...great job! I would've used fondant lettering though. Otherwise, looks great!
