This is a dummy cake I made for the Cincinnati Cake show this past weekend. It won first place for beginner novelty cakes! I was so excited and proud of my blue ribbon. The cake is hand carved and then adorned with state facts...flag, flower, insect, nut, and bird. Everything is hand made and hand painted with fondant, or made of RI. I'm a critique subgroup member. All comments are welcome and appreciated. TFL.
Critique Subgroup Member: Congratulations on wining first place!! This is a great cake and I can see why you were picked the winner. The only criticism I can offer is that the bird's color is too close to the perch that he is sitting on (maybe it's the way the photograph is translating)

Thanks for all of the nice compliments. The bird was a little dark, but there was more of a difference between the colors in person. The lighting is not the best in this photo. I agree is is hard to see the cardinal and its details. Other pics. I took show that part of the cake better, but make it hard to see other things. This pic. seemed the best of the lot. I think I need to take up photography...yeah, that's what I need...another hobby! :lol: DH would LOVE that.
