Square Wedding Cake

Square Wedding Cake on Cake Central

This was my monster cake on Saturday! I've never done anything this big, and I am so relieved it's over! The bride picked this design - and at first I thought it would look a little wierd, but it really grew on me. Her colors were brown and ivory. This is a view from the back

Thank you so much for your generous compliments! It means a lot to be validated on something you put your heart into, doesn't it. Thanks again! I had to get a LOT of supplies for this, including all the pans, and I decided to use separator plates and hidden pillars. So all that, not to mention all the ingredients, added up quite a bit!! That's why I only ended up making about $100 for it! Now that I've got the basic supplies, hopefully that means that the next ones won't be as expensive. :)

Thank you! It really was huge. And she only had 150 guests! But that's what she wanted, and we cut really big pieces so everyone was happy with that. It's ivory fondant with white buttercream swirls. The ribbon was brown fabric ribbon that the bride chose, and I used pearl floral pins to hold it in place.

This was mostly a favor for a friend of my brother's. I don't have a business or anything, but because it was an hour away and so big, I charged her $1.15 a slice. I made about $100 on it, after all of the ingredients and supplies. In the words of Napoleon Dynamite, "that's like a dollar an hour!"... but it was worth it for the experience. :)

Simply elegant. You really did a fantastic job. All of the layers are in alignment and your swirls are perfect. Great job. You should be very proud of yourself. I'd be a nervous wreck to attempt something like this.

lauralu, I think the topper was from Enesco, and it was called "circle of love". The bride provided it, and I thought it was beautiful.

Flawless, AP. It is one of the most stunning cakes I have seen. Well done. Question, did the separator plates show before you attached the ribbon?
