Hydrangea Cake

Hydrangea Cake on Cake Central

Someone contacted me about a picture in my brochure of a cupcake bouquet saying she really loved the cake that looked like a flower pot. It told her it WAS a flower pot but that type of cake was doable. She asked for hydrangea and this is what she got. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Its about 3x as much cake as she asked for, though. Oh well. Live and learn.

Gorgeous! It's hard to do justice to some requests when they only need a small cake. What a shame to have so much cake to eat?!

Thanks everybody! No the hydrangea were not hard to make at all. I used a 104 tip and made them on a flower nail-4 petals. I tossed them into the freezer till firm. The mound shape was made with cupcakes that I iced in the same color icing as the flowers. I then just stuck the hydragea flowers into the base icing. I layered the flowers on top of each other until all the space was filled between them and they had the shape that I wanted. PM me if you want more in depth details on how to make this cake
