My First Wedding Cake Attempt!

My First Wedding Cake Attempt! on Cake Central

I used the 12", 9" and 6" petal pans (never again). I did one layer of each, (torted) in the WASC. The bottom layer had raspberry butter cream filling, the middle had Grand Marnier buttercream and the top, Kahlua. The buttercream icing didn't crust up very well, so it's not exactly the result I was hoping for. I also used a pearl lustre dust on the roses and on the apple blossoms along the bottom. Roses are BC, apple blossoms and drop flowers are RI. I sure hope they like it.

Had you shown me a pic of this cake and told me you were going to "try" it as your 1st cake, I would have thought it might be too ambitious for a 1st cake, but oh my gosh you did a beautiful job! Lots of little extra decor detail and your roses look very good. You did a great job cascading them down the 3 tiers. I've no doubt they loved this cake!

Thanks! It made it there in one piece and she was thrilled. Deb - the extra decor detail is to help cover up the icing mistakes! I had fun and learned a lot.
