Shark Week

Shark Week on Cake Central

My son requested a "Shark Week" cake for his 5th birthday this year. He was very specific in that he wanted a tiger shark, a great white, and a hammerhead shark along with scuba divers and every other little detail you see right down to the bubbles. I was actually pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Comments and constructive criticism are always welcomed! TFL!

Really nice job on your figures. Your son obviously has a great vision for what makes a great cake, and you have the talent to pull it off!

You . . . of course, are VERY talented to have pulled this off . . . and I am EQUALLY (or possibly even more?) impressed by a 5 year old that has this vision . . . "right down to the bubbles" . . . the two of you make a GREAT team!! :D :D :D

This is such an incredible cake! You did a terrific job and for the record...I have a son just like yours. Every decal has GOT to be on a NASCAR cake or it's WRONG. LOL I wouldn't trade him for anything and he plays with fondant too! Wonderful job!!!

on

Very cool cake! :) Great details. Your little "man" certainly knew what he wanted and knew that you could pull it off. He's one smart little boy!

It's a Masterpiece mom and I know the birthday boy is going to love it when his guests see it and their eyes get big and their mouths fall open.

Wow! Thank you guys so much for all the wonderful compliments! It occurred to me last night that I have made one other set of figures...the dumpy little penguins in my avatar. lol Now you see why I didn't think they counted! And to you girls who asked if you can copy the cake, copy away! I am totally flattered! But I want to see pictures!! :D

on

ok...Im going to be 100% honest with you.....I...want...to...SMACK YOU! first time??? my first time looked like this too...after the first 500 times!

Amazing!!! My 6 year old will LOVE this cake. He was torn this year between a shark cake and aliens . . . aliens won!! This is definately going into my favs for him!!

on

You did a fantastic job!! I love this cake, great idea. I bet your son loved this. WONDERFUL!!! Characters look great!! Keep up the good work!! :D

on

OMG! First figures, indeed! lol All kidding aside, you're a NATURAL! Those sharks are beautiful! The divers are, too! Kudos to you (and your son) on a VERY well executed cake! Did you support the figures on the side with spaghetti or toothpicks? Inquiring minds want to know! :) :D

on

Thank you! lol They are on there with toothpicks but in hindsight some longer pieces of spaghetti would have been much more secure!

Pretty great cake... well designed... well balanced. It also shows a sense of humor. I think that the only thing that I would add would to paint some water/blue texture to the blue fondant in order to add depth. But I am adding to my favorites... :D
